The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Engr. Remi Oseni, has awarded a multi-million-naira contract for the construction of the Akuro Link Bridge in Ibadan Southwest Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The project comes as a major development for residents of Akuro, Popoyemoja, Molete, and Idi-Arere, who have been clamouring for the construction of the bridge for over 12 years to address persistent connectivity and transportation challenges across the communities.
The award of the project is expected to improve accessibility, ease the movement of residents and commuters, strengthen connections between neighbouring communities, and stimulate socio-economic activities in the affected areas.
For residents who have waited patiently for more than a decade, the proposed bridge represents renewed hope for safer movement, improved access, and a better quality of life.
The Akuro Link Bridge project is also expected to enhance the movement of goods and services, improve access to economic opportunities, and reduce the difficulties associated with transportation within the area.
Commending Engr. Remi Oseni for the initiative, residents of the affected communities expressed appreciation for his intervention, describing the project as a welcome development that addresses a longstanding need.
The residents further declared their support for Oseni, pledging to rally behind his political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They expressed optimism that the project would bring meaningful relief to the affected communities and serve as a step towards addressing infrastructure challenges that have persisted for years.
The development has further drawn attention to the importance of community-focused infrastructure projects in promoting grassroots development and improving the living conditions of residents.
